TBOS Orchid Show Win

February was a full month for showcasing TOC. First was the Carrollwood Village Booth and then the TOC display at the TBOS Orchid show won the show trophy.

Many thanks to all our members who submitted their awesome plants for the display and to the volunteers who helped register, label and prep the plants. As you can see from the photo, many of our plants won ribbons and awards.  Congratulations!

As usual, Karen Lewis and Darwin Breu did a beautiful job displaying the orchids and CONGRATULATIONS for winning the AOS Show Trophy.

It was quite an exciting accomplishment.

February TOC Meeting Highlight

The February meeting was well attended with 47 people. We filled up all our seats for the presentation by AOS judge, Julio Hector. He presented us with many details about Paphiopedulums. He made us laugh that he has heard them referred to as the “snooty people” orchid.  Also, it was interesting that they are not cloned and only come from seedlings. He showed us how they have such diverse flower shapes, size, and foliage. 109 specie are recognized by KEW.

And for a smile, Scott enjoyed wearing a members choice ribbon! :)
