August Meeting Recap

Our August meeting was both informative and inspiring! 🌸 Serena gave a tremendously detailed slideshow featuring her specimen Vandas, showcasing their beauty and sharing practical tips on how to grow them successfully in Florida. Members learned valuable insights on Vanda care as well as general orchid care techniques to help our orchids thrive year-round.

Bloomers Needed for the Ridge Orchid Show

TOC will be setting up a display at this year’s Ridge Orchid Society Annual Show on September 13th & 14th. To make our display shine, we need your freshly bloomed orchids!


Guidelines for submitting plants:

  • At least 50% of buds must be open

  • Plants must be clean and free of bugs

  • Please label your name on your plant and on any hangers or accessories to ensure they are returned to the correct owner


Drop-Off Locations & Times:

  • ⚲ United Women’s Club📍 1515 Williamsburg Square, Lakeland, FL📅 September 12th | ⏰ 9 AM – 12 PM

  • ⚲ USF Botanical Gardens📍 12210 USF Pine Drive, Tampa, FL📅 September 11th | ⏰ 9 AM – 11:30 AM


Join TOC At The September Monthly Meeting

Mark your calendars for our next monthly meeting on Tuesday, September 30th. We’re excited to welcome Mike Sands, horticulturist with Tangled Roots Nursery in Loxahatchee, FL. Mike will be sharing his expertise on what to grow and what not to grow for both common and unique orchids. This is sure to be an engaging and practical talk you won’t want to miss!



Annual Orchid Expo – October 4th & 5th

The countdown is on! Our Annual Orchid Expo is coming up quickly, and we need your help to make it a success.


Here’s how you can get involved:

  • Trophy Sponsors: $30 per sponsorship.

  • Volunteers Needed: Help with setup on October 3rd, and/or volunteer during the Expo on October 4th & 5th.
